Columbus, Ohio received a team in 1932, in a rival league started by Marshall Cooper, in protest over Judge Hugh Walker's rule changes in The League after taking over as Commissioner following the death of his brother Tobias. Columbus, whose nickname is never revealed, entered The League in 1937, once Walker lost his interest in The League, and survived until 1942, when World War II forced The League to cut back on the number of teams and move others to larger locations. It is unknown whether the Columbus team was folded outright or lived on as a relocated team. It wouldn't be til The League expanded in 1978 for football to return to Ohio in the form of the Cincinnati Crusaders. The state would receive another franchise when the San Diego Cyclones relocated to Cleveland and became the Cleveland Steamers.
